DO NOT GIVE UP ON BILLY AND TINA

TAKE ACTION

Here again are the people to contact to get Billy and Tina moved out of the Tulsa Zoo and into a sanctuary. If you’ve already taken action, please do it again. The City Council needs to hear from you. They completely failed our elephants while Billy and Tina were in the LA Zoo, the least they can do is use their power and influence to persuade the Tulsa Zoo to move them to a sanctuary.

Contact the President and CEO of the Tulsa Zoo, Lindsey Hutchison. Her personal email has been shut down so you can email her at pr@tulsazoo.org. You can also email volunteers@tulsazoo.org. These volunteers, like the volunteers at the LA Zoo, facilitate the imprisonment of animals in zoos and always showed up at the city council meetings to testify against rescuing Billy from the zoo. The phone number for the Tulsa Zoo is 918-669-6600. Tell Lindsey Hutchison she must release Billy and Tina and all the elephants at the Tulsa Zoo to a sanctuary. Tell her she must not allow Billy and Tina to die without ever having had a chance for a normal life.

Mayor Karen Bass is a lost cause. As is obvious from the sad state of affairs in LA city animal shelters, she has not one shred of sympathy for animals. She is devoid of compassion and the fate of Billy and Tina in Tulsa is of zero interest to her. She helped Denise Verret prevent them from being moved to a sanctuary so they could remain under the auspices of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and that is all that matters to her and Denise. But we must stand up for Billy and Tina nevertheless, and let Bass know what we think of her continuing to inflict suffering on our two precious elephants. Her personal email is long gone so click here if you live in LA https://mayor.lacity.gov/contact to “share your opinion.” If you live elsewhere you can email her at  mayor@publicaffairs@lacity.org

Tell these councilmembers they must act now to move Billy and Tina out of the Tulsa Zoo or our elephants will die. Billy and Tina are losing weight. They have given up on life. Tina is seriously ill. Billy’s physical and mental health is deteriorating. Only being moved to a sanctuary where they will receive the care they need will they have a chance to heal and live normal lives as elephants. All these two have ever known since they were babies is cruelty. They must be moved now. Time is of the essence.

If we have any updates on actions you can take for Billy and Tina we will let you know. Sign the petition below by In Defense of Animals.

Thank you for caring. The suffering of Billy and Tina breaks our hearts but we will continue trying to save our dear elephants who deserve a chance to live.

In Defense of Animals now has a petition to move Billy and Tina and the five other elephants out of the Tulsa Zoo to a sanctuary! Please sign. https://tinyurl.com/yp93bb2s

Our friend Marlene Narrow sent us this video of Billy in Tulsa. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8z5UM1gnlI It is agonizing to see him suffering so terribly. We emailed it to the city council. They condemned him to this hell hole and we will not allow them to forget that.

Thank you for keeping the calls coming in to councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson at 213-473-7008 and asking him to put Motion 25-0446 on the floor so the City Council can vote to send Billy and Tina to a sanctuary. Tina, who belonged to the city of San Diego, was sold by them to the Tulsa Zoo. Billy still belongs to us and the two of them must be moved together to a sanctuary. Harris-Dawson’s email is councilmember.harris-dawson@lacity.org.
