Our most important goal as antivivisectionists has been and always will be the abolition of all animal experimentation. Vivisection is scientific fraud, a billion dollar industry, and only exists to benefit the greedy purveyors of torture in the petrochemical/pharmaceutical industry. We’ve always said, nothing less than total abolition will satisfy us. And yet, we support Congresswoman Nancy Mace (SC-01) in her introduction of Violet’s Law, also known as the AFTER Act, and named after a dog adopted from a tax-payer-funded vivisection lab. This act would allow dogs, cats, primates, rabbits, and other animals to be retired and re-homed when vivisectors no longer find any use for them.
Many thousands of animals endure painful experiments and tests in federal laboratories. Almost all of them, even healthy animals, are killed by the vivisectors after the experiments end. Because of the efforts of Rep. Mace and others, the National Institutes of Health, the Food and Drug Administration, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Department of Defense have enacted lab animal retirement policies and have adopted out dogs, cats, and other animals, and have relocated primates to sanctuaries. But there are still government agencies like the USDA, and the CDC, who do not have retirement policies.
Last Congress, the bill had 116 bipartisan cosponsors in the House. A Senate companion bill that had 19 cosponsors was introduced by Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) and Senator Gary Peters (D-MI). We are now asking Congress that Violet’s Law be attached to the Farm Bill that is now being written. The law will release all animal survivors from government agency vivisection labs.
This is our chance to make sure that animals who have suffered physical and mental pain in government labs will find homes once those experiments have ended. We can’t turn our backs on thousands of animals who could find safety and happiness with a wonderful family of their own.

PLEASE ADD VIOLET’S LAW TO THE FARM BILL AND SAVE THOUSANDS OF ANIMALS FROM CERTAIN DEATH
I writing to ask you to please support the bipartisan bill, Violet’s Law, that will enact retirement policies in all government agency laboratories and attach it to the Farm Bill. This law will allow many thousands of animals to find forever homes with loving families. As Rep. Mace has said, “It’s cruel and unnecessary to euthanize dogs, cats, and other animals in federal research labs which are healthy enough to be adopted out and live happy lives.” Until the fraud of vivisection has ended and is finally completely abolished, at least give these animals a chance at a well-deserved and happy retirement.
