THE TRAGEDY OF MACAQUE MONKEYS — AND THE NIH CONTINUES TO FUND VIVISECTION

When I saw the photo of these Japanese snow macaques on the cover of my Westways Magazine I was awestruck. The loving bond between this couple is evident as the male holds the female close, protecting her from the elements, their fur covered in ice.

Westways offers photo contests for their readers to submit pictures they have taken during their travels. In her description of the macaque couple, the winning photographer says, “Their frozen fur and intense expressions reflect the harshness of winter, yet their bond conveys peace, comfort, and emotion. The male kept a watchful eye on their surroundings, while the female snuggles closely and occasionally groomed her partner. Looking at the two together reminded me of the type of peaceful companionship that humans also look for in each other.”

THE AMAZING MACAQUE FAMILY

There are 22 species of macaques, each of them unique, living in all types of habitats in different parts of the world from tropical to icy cold. They are intelligent, family oriented animals, and mothers are extremely attached to their babies. They can thrive in urban areas where they are protected and are able to live comfortably alongside humans.

These sensitive, loving animals deserve our concern and protection. Unfortunately, humans often do not display the same kind of humanity as these monkeys show each other.

Rhesus monkeys are arguably the most intelligent and sensitive of all the macaques. They are threatened in the wild but are bred by the millions to be brutalized in vivisection laboratories.

The above pictures showing monkeys in vivisection labs and being bred and trafficked is a miniscule percentage of the torment inflicted on these animals. In universities, in NIH tax funded laboratories, and in the laboratories of disease organizations like the Cancer Society, Susan Komen, Alzheimer’s Association, Parkinson’s, Muscular Dystrophy, Multiple Sclerosis, Stand Up to Cancer, Easter Seals, Red Cross, The City of Hope, St. Jude’s Research Hospital, and all the rest, many species of animals are brutalized, killed, and discarded for grants, donations, six figure salaries, and useless experimentation. Only by educating the public about the horrific nature of vivisection and the fact that it is a fraud will we ever have hope of abolishing this blight on humanity.

THE NIH CONTINUES TO FUND VIVISECTION

The Gateway Pundit recently reported with blazing headlines, “EXCLUSIVE: NIH RENEWS GRANTS FOR HARVARD MONKEY LAB, FAUCI’S BEAGLE AND PRIMATE TESTS.” While PETA and PCRM continue to support and believe in the promises of NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya, he has authorized millions of dollars in funding for fraudulent, cruel experiments. We stand firmly behind White Coat Waste in exposing the true intent of Bhattacharya and his Deputy Director, Nicole Kleinstreuer, the infamous vivisectionist, ex-Obama staffer, and disciple of Anthony Fauci. While Bhattacharya pays lip service to NIH plans to cut down on animal experiments and replace them with non animal experiments that are actually scientific, Nicole makes no bones about where she stands. According to her, “We have no intention of just phasing out animal studies overnight. We know that animal studies are still very important and often scientifically justified.” She is spewing out this garbage on behalf of her vivisector friends who are currently being funded by the NIH and expect to be funded into infinity despite being unable to report one cure to any disease that has resulted from all the torture they have inflicted on millions of animals. According to reports by White Coat Waste, PETA and PCRM staunchly defend her. We find this shocking and inexplicable. She is taking the brunt of criticism from AV groups like us while Bhattacharya dances away from the controversy with his empty promises. It is obvious she speaks for him.

Besides renewing grants to Harvard for perpetrating experiments on monkeys at Harvard…the NAID has also renewed grants for tick bite experiments on 400 beagle puppies! I thought we ended those atrocities! But here they are again.

Bhattacharya doesn’t get to preach his belief in non animal research to friendly groups like PETA and PCRM and at the same time renew grants to vivisection laboratories to keep perpetuating useless and cruel experiments on animals. He needs to hear from us again. He knows that vivisection is a fraud and we must continue to hold his feet to the fire. He needs to understand that there are thousands of us who see through his hypocrisy regarding replacing vivisection with real science and his hiring a virulent vivisectionist to be his deputy.

Please send emails to Bhattacharya at this email address https://www.nih.gov/form/ask-nih and address your comments to him. You may use your own words, which is most effective, or cut and paste the message below.

To Dr. Bhattacharya:

Many antivivisectionists believed you when you said you intended to phase out vivisection and concentrate on scientific, human-relevant research. You showed your true colors when you immediately extended funding for the brutal NPRC lab in Oregon where thousands of chimpanzees and other monkeys have been tortured physically for several years and have had horrendous mental and emotional harm inflicted upon them. Now you have renewed funding for the Harvard monkey lab and the infamous Fauci beagle/tick bite tests. That is shocking and appalling. We believed worldwide exposure of Fauci’s experiments would end them for good. You know as well as I do that experiments on animals cannot be extrapolated to humans, and yet you caved in to the demands of the vivisectors. You should be shutting down every single NPRC lab forever. Instead, you show an incredible lack of courage and merely pay lip service to caring about animals to make AV groups fawn like PETA and PCRM, or shut up. Now you have further betrayed the animals in an unbelievably cynical way. You need to do some introspection and stop acting like just one more fake scientist who bows down to the vivisection industry. I sincerely hope you can see your way clear to do that. Many thousands of activists are waiting to see what you do next.

Sincerely

BILLY AND TINA ARE STILL TRAPPED IN THE TULSA ZOO

We have been calling and emailing to find out what is going on with the motion in the LA City Council to investigate Bass and Verret for stealing Billy and Tina out of the LA Zoo and sending them to the Tulsa Zoo. So far, no response, but we will keep you updated when we learn anything.

Thank you for keeping the calls coming in to councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson at 213-473-7008 and asking him to put Motion 25-0446 on the floor so the City Council can vote to send Billy and Tina to a sanctuary. His email is councilmember.harris-dawson@lacity.org.
