As a non profit we are not allowed to tell people how to vote, even though many non profits actively campaign for certain politicians. But we can educate and warn the public about propositions about to be voted on that go against the collective conscience of the majority of the public, and animal lovers and activists specifically.
PROPOSITION 38
Proposition 38 seeks to have the state of California give universities and animal experimentation labs $8.4 billion in bonds from California tax payers. The proponents say that this money will go to immunology and immunotherapy research with half of it dedicated to cancer, heart disease, and Alzheimer’s disease.
The leading proponents of this proposition are the Alzheimer’s Association, Michael J. Fox Foundation, ALS Association, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and the Prostrate Cancer Foundation, plus doctor and nurse organizations, declaring that this research will be lifesaving, and cure and prevent these diseases. Those are familiar lies of vivisectors to induce an ignorant public to open their pocket books and give their hard earned cash to psychopaths who spend their lives perpetrating animal brutality and care nothing for either the well being of animals or humans.
WHAT THE VOTING PAMPLET FAILS TO DISCLOSE
The wording in the measure says that the first stage of the research will focus on “basic research. “Basic research is animal experimentation.” Using animals as models, they will experiment on animals to find out how the human body works. Vivisectors have been perpetrating experiments on animals for decades using animal models knowing full well that these experiments cannot be extrapolated to humans. Alzheimer’s researchers have been using animal models for over 100 years to search for a cure to Alzheimer’s with no results whatsoever except for a plethora of drugs that suppress symptoms for a short time and then cause harm and death to the Alzheimer’s patients. (read the articles on our site kindnessandscience.org ) The Alzheimer’s Association knows full well, through clinical research here and in Europe, that Alzheimer’s has been associated with exposure to aluminum, but they choose to ignore this inconvenient truth.
The voting pamphlet goes on to explain that the next stage of the experimentation involves “test treatments.” That means a multitude of animals will have whatever toxic chemicals the “basic research” comes up foisted on them–more animal suffering, more animal deaths, more useless testing. Nevertheless, drugs will result and as we know by now, drugs cannot heal the human body, only suppress symptoms and weaken the immune system causing more illness, more pain, and many times death in humans.
California voters have already approved two ballot measures–Proposition 72 in 2004 and Proposition 14 in 2020–giving the state authority to issue general obligation bonds to fund specified medical research. Combined, the two measures allowed the state to issue $8.5 billion in bonds for stem cell research. If Proposition 38 passes, untold more millions of animals will be bought with your tax dollars from breeders like Marshall BioResources, and tortured in university and private vivisection labs in California.
The vivisection/disease organization industry already receives billions of dollars in grants from the NIH to experiment on animals with not one result that can be applied to human beings. They receive billions of dollars in donations as a result of their tear-jerking or fear mongering commercials on TV. They receive billions of dollars from wealthy individuals who do not have a clue that their money is going to torture animals.
With this money, the coffers of the vivisection/disease organization industry overflows. They spend the money on million dollar or six figure salaries and perks that their donors have no knowledge of unless they dig deep on the internet. Sick celebrities like Michael J. Fox become desperate to find a cure for their illnesses and like Fox, push hard for more and more animal experimentation, refusing to listen to warnings that torturing animals will not bring about a cure for his Parkinson’s disease. Now he is pushing for Proposition 38 hoping against hope that millions of more animals being brutalized will somehow result in a magic cure for Parkinson’s that will make him well. Unfortunately for him, none of that horrific animal suffering will have any impact on his health or anyone else’s health whatsoever.
BUT THE VIVISECTION INDUSTRY ALWAYS WANTS MORE MONEY, MUCH, MUCH MORE MONEY
The general public, who has no knowledge of the realities of what basic research entails or that disease organizations are deeply involved in animal experimentation, merely watch commercials like those of St. Jude and respond through their tears. Danny Thomas promised a cure to childhood cancer 64 years ago. All these years later, children and babies at St. Jude are exposed to experimental therapies, toxic drugs, and chemotherapy and radiation with no “cure” in site. St. Jude’s executive million- dollar salaries are some of the highest of all the disease organizations. St. Jude is worth over $13.10 billion and receives upwards of $2.9 billion a year in donations. You’d think that considering their incredible wealth, and high salaries, the public would begin asking questions of why St. Jude has not yet come up with that famous “cure” Danny Thomas promised 64 years ago, but people just keep pouring more money into St. Jude’s massive bank accounts and, like with all the other disease organizations, have come to expect nothing. If people were aware of the horrific experiments St. Jude perpetrates on animals would they care? We hope so.
Because the ignorant public responds as we have just laid out, Proposition 71 and 14 passed. People blindly believe in the medical/pharmaceutical industry and don’t ask questions. We can’t tell you or anyone else how to vote but we ask that you pass this information on to your friends and that you and they react and vote accordingly.
Another Proposition and another wave of animals about to be imported into California from breeding laboratories to be tortured. It’s not acceptable. You can do something about it. Voting does matter.
