If you live in the LA area and missed coming to Calabasas for the potluck dinner held last Saturday in honor of Dr. Will Tuttle, you missed a fabulous evening of an incredible array of vegan food, warm fellowship with fellow vegans, and, of course, an inspirational talk by Dr. Will. I wish that anyone who has ever asked, “You’re a vegan? Then what do you eat?” could have been there.
For anyone who still doesn’t know about Dr. Will, he is the author of the international best-seller, The World Peace Diet. He received the Courage of Conscience Award and the Empty Cages Prize. He is the creator of ten albums of uplifting original piano music and is featured in a number of documentary films. He has authored several books, the latest being Food for Freedom. His wife Madeleine is a talented Swiss visionary artist. They travel together extensively sharing the message of the interrelatedness of all life and achieving good health through eating a plant based diet.

On April 19th 2000 animal rescuers will peacefully descend on Ridglan Farms in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin in an historical rescue of all 2000 beagles trapped inside this breeding/vivisection hellhole. Wayne Hsuing and his team reached their goal of having 2000 rescuers sign up plus 59 more.
Law enforcement failed to do their job in shutting down this illegal operation so regular citizens will do their job for them.
Last month 100 rescuers brought out 30 beagles but eight dogs were confiscated by the sheriff’s deputies. This time all 2000 will be brought out and find homes despite the efforts of law enforcement to stop the rescue. If law enforcement has any sense whatsoever they will adhere to the law, shut down this facility, and stand down while rescuers take out every single beagle. We are excited that friends and supporters of KSA will be there and we visualize their success and the monumental role each and every rescuer is playing in making this the beginning of shutting down every breeding/vivisection facility in the country. Here are pictures from the first rescue and some very happy beagles, now forever safe.

DO NOT FORGET ABOUT BILLY AND TINA
Here again are some of the people to contact to get Billy and Tina moved out of the Tulsa Zoo and into a sanctuary. If you’ve already taken action, please do it again. The City Council needs to hear from you. Go to our site to see to several links to their emails. www.kindnessandscience.org They completely failed our elephants while Billy and Tina were in the LA Zoo, the least they can do is use their power and influence to persuade the Tulsa Zoo to move them to a sanctuary.
Contact the President and CEO of the Tulsa Zoo, Lindsey Hutchison. Her personal email has been shut down so you can email her at pr@tulsazoo.org. You can also email volunteers@tulsazoo.org. These volunteers, like the volunteers at the LA Zoo, facilitate the imprisonment of animals in zoos and always showed up at the city council meetings to testify against rescuing Billy from the zoo. The phone number for the Tulsa Zoo is 918-669-6600. Tell Lindsey Hutchison she must release Billy and Tina and all the elephants at the Tulsa Zoo to a sanctuary. Tell her she must not allow Billy and Tina to die without ever having had a chance for a normal life.

In Defense of Animals now has a petition to move Billy and Tina and the five other elephants out of the Tulsa Zoo to a sanctuary! Please sign. https://tinyurl.com/yp93bb2s
Our friend Marlene Narrow sent us this video of Billy in Tulsa. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8z5UM1gnlI It is agonizing to see him suffering so terribly. We emailed it to the city council. They condemned him to this hell hole and we will not allow them to forget that.
Thank you for keeping the calls coming in to councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson at 213-473-7008 and asking him to put Motion 25-0446 on the floor so the City Council can vote to send Billy and Tina to a sanctuary. Tina, who belonged to the city of San Diego, was sold by them to the Tulsa Zoo. Despite living under the auspices of the AZA Billy was never sold and still belongs to us and both elephants must be moved together to a sanctuary. Harris-Dawson’s email is councilmember.harris-dawson@lacity.org.
