HUGE WIN IN COURT FOR SAFE DRINKING WATER

Incredible news! On September 24th, U.S. District Court Judge Edward Chen, who had been overseeing the fluoride trial we reported on last year issued his ruling – “Water fluoridation at current U.S. levels poses an ‘unreasonable risk’ of reduced IQ in children.” Chen ruled that a preponderance of scientific evidence shows that the level of fluoride that Americans are being exposed to may damage human health, particularly that of pregnant mothers and young children.

WHAT IS FLUORIDE?

Fluorosilicic acid is a by-product of fertilizer production. It is extremely caustic and can cause lung damage and death in any worker who comes in contact with it. But why waste a poisonous by-product when there is money to be made? The acid (FSA) is shipped from Florida where it is mined, and dripped into drinking water all over the country. Years of propaganda and backing by the fluoride industry and the American Dental Association have convinced the public fluoride stops dental decay and is good for us. Sad to say, the American public is easily brainwashed and while 97% of the countries in Western Europe have banned water fluoridation, in this country, efforts to remove fluoride from our drinking water have gone down to defeat. Several years ago, my friends and I experienced that kind of disappointment when we attempted to have fluoride removed from the drinking water in Los Angeles. Politically connected opposing forces won the day.

The fluoride industry and all their minions in government, including the Centers for Disease Control, the EPAHealth and Human Services, the American Dental Association, and others have fought for decades to keep poisoning our drinking water with fluoride. Now their lies have caught up with them in court.

As we reported on the upcoming trial in our newsletter earlier this year, after petitioning the EPA to end water fluoridation in 2016 and being denied, the Fluoride Action Network, Food and Water Watch, and others filed a lawsuit against the EPA in 2017 to have them admit that fluoride is a neurotoxin and to end the fluoridation of water in the U.S. Ever since the filing, the EPA has managed to delay the trial again and again. But everything changed when, in 2023, the National Toxicology Program released a study entitled Systematic Review of Fluoride’s Neurotoxicity. The NTP spent seven years and over one million dollars on their report and produced two drafts of the study during that time. The study reported, among many other facts and figures, that fluoride is a neurotoxin associated with low IQ in children, and that pregnant women and bottle-fed babies are especially at risk. The report also states “NTP concludes that fluoride is presumed to be a cognitive neurodevelopmental hazard to humans.”

We have waited for months for Judge Chen’s ruling and are incredibly grateful that the judge took his time reading all of the evidence presented and let facts decide his decision. We often remind our supporters that when it comes to fighting vivisectors, the petrochemical pharmaceutical industry, and their friends in government agencies it can take years to accomplish our goals. This is a goal we set many years ago and to see it come to fruition is very gratifying.

Of course, the government will fight the ruling. The chemical/medical/pesticide industry does not give up their profits easily. But, according to Children’s Health Defense, “Several U.S. cities, towns, and counties have already announced they will stop fluoridating their water. Abilene, Texas; Yorktown, New York; Sommers, New York; and the Basin Water Conservancy District in Utah are among the cities that have stopped fluoridation. Some really smart people must live there.

Rick North who is a board member of the Fluoride Action Network, who brought the case to court says. “Fluoridation is a house of cards and it’s going to fall. It’s only a matter of when. Our job is to make the wind blow.”

God bless every single person who has been working all these years to bring safe, fluoride free water to the homes of Americans. It took some time, but we are celebrating this huge victory!
